Rehearsals General Procedures
- When it is time for class to start, all students must be in the rehearsal room and in their seats. For instrumental ensembles, students should be ready to warm-up/tune TWO MINUTES after class is scheduled to begin.
- Tardiness will lead to consequences from the school attendance policy. We expect each student to be on time so that students will be released on time.
- Check for the rehearsal order and put your music in order BEFORE rehearsal begins.
- Percussionists should set up and have all necessary equipment, sticks, mallets, etc. ready before each rehearsal begins. Failure to do so may result in loss of participation points.
- Have a sharpened PENCIL (with eraser) on your stand (in your folder/hand for singers) at all times.
- When the director, substitute teacher, or student conductor steps on the podium, all talking stops. Rehearsal begins at this point. Your full attention should be given to the conductor.
- No unnecessary talking during rehearsal.
- Students will not be allowed to do other work or reading during rehearsal.
- Know the difference between practice and rehearsal. Come to rehearsal ready to perform. PRACTICE AT HOME!!!
- Any disagreements with the director will be discussed after class or after school.
- All rehearsals will be conducted in a professional work atmosphere with emphasis on improvement. If students are consistently unprepared, it may be necessary to hear individuals play/sing or change chair assignments.
- Corrections will be made regarding the students’ musical or marching performance. These are not to be taken personally. Each individual’s performance affects the performance of the entire group. It is important for ALL members to do their very best.
- Cell phones may not be visible or audible during rehearsal.
